Welcome to the Summer edition of your City Tatts Magazine. I hope the upcoming festive season is everything you want it to be.
It has been a wonderful year in the history of our Club. It is in great shape as 2018 draws to a close. I hope you have enjoyed seeing the Christmas decorations throughout the Club house – and that you drop in and enjoy the mouthwatering Christmas menu in Zest Kitchen.
REFLECTING ON RECENT HIGHLIGHTS
This year saw significant progress with the Airspace Development, with the submission of the Stage One DA to council being an historic milestone for the Club. We patiently await an outcome from the City of Sydney with keen interest.
Our Club was proud to be a major supporter of the 2018 Sydney Invictus Games and I hope you enjoyed cheering on the incredible participants as much as I did.
In October, many of our Members got to experience the excitement of our annual City Tattersalls Race Day at Royal Randwick, as we continued our Club’s enduring connection with horseracing. The event was attended by a large number of Members, with the exclusive luncheon proving a big hit. You can read more about that fantastic day on page 16 of the magazine. That day was shortly followed by a sensational Melbourne Cup Day in the Club house, with laughter and
vivid colour at every turn. For the many of you who commented that these were the best City Tatts Race Day and Melbourne Cup Day ever … I can only say once more … wait until you see next year!
EXCITING NEWS FOR THE DINING ROOM
I am thrilled to announce that the Dining Room (formerly Esperanto) will reopen once a week from February 2019 for Members and guests, with the food provided by Chefin, a top-notch
subcontracted catering service which is currently operating a commercial concern out of the kitchen. I hope you will join us and once again light up this great room with laughter and life. It goes without saying that the offerings in our food and beverage outlets are of great quality and value and I encourage you to come in and try them for yourself.
LEGENDS DINER AND SNOOKER ROOM
Last month, we were delighted to open a brand new food outlet, with the birth of the Legends Diner and Snooker Room. With some great value – and, of course, delicious items on offer, the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive.
The move has also relieved operational stresses on Zest Kitchen and allowed us to elevate the menu to a more sophisticated level.
The new Snooker Room is also now up and running, complete with four refurbished tables which have been brought up to Championship level as we look to bring top level competitions back to the Club house. I encourage you to read the fine article on page 10 to find out more about how to join our Snooker Sub-Club.
WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY
I also have some exciting news to share on your Club’s work in the Community space. In early December, we partnered with the RISE Foundation to tour eight towns in regional NSW to deliver mental health workshops to areas suffering ongoing drought conditions. This project will be reported on more fully in the next issue of the City Tatts magazine. In the meantime, I encourage you to keep an eye out on our social media channels for some great stories and pictures from along the way as we roll out this project to the lasting benefit of some well-deserving communities.
In 2019, our Club will be sponsoring the City Tattersalls Max Potential program through ClubGRANTS to launch and host the CBD Max Potential Program for the second year running. This well-structured program is designed to empower young people from local schools through community-based leadership coaching. If you would like to find out more – or to put your hand up to get involved, please take the time to read the article on page 34, where you can find further information.
CITY TATTS HISTORY PROJECT
With City Tatts’ 125th anniversary fast-approaching in 2020, we have a team working on researching, conducting interviews and compiling the stories of our iconic Club. If you have any items of historic importance, from photos and memorabilia to anecdotes or leads, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can ensure that no stone is left unturned in this important project.
CHRISTMAS & 2019
On a final note, with Christmas fast approaching, I sincerely thank each and every one of you, our Members, our business partners, neighbours, and staff and contractors (including Matt and Luanne who manage our Ski Lodge in Perisher) for your support and efforts throughout the year.
On behalf of the Board, our Chief Executive Officer, Marcelo, and his great team, I wish you a wonderful Christmas and may 2019 be a great year for all.
Please come and enjoy your Club this Summer.
